The Graveyard Remembers
Sign in with Discord and your survivors belong to you, not a browser tab. There's a real site now, and every life that ends gets a certificate in the graveyard.
Today was all about the stuff around the game rather than the game itself. Up until this morning, your character lived in a browser bookmark. Lose the link and that survivor was gone for good. That's fixed now.
You can sign in
Log in with Discord and you get a real account. Your survivors belong to you, not to a tab. Close the browser, come back tomorrow on a different machine, hit Resume, and you're right back in the same body where you left it. Well, hopefully anyway.
There's a proper site
Signing in takes you to a dashboard. Your survivors show up as cards with health, hunger, and thirst written out in plain words, so a card reads Hurt, Peckish, Parched instead of a row of numbers. Towns have names now too, so you'll see that your survivor is holed up in Harper's Crossing rather than at some coordinate.
The Worlds page lists every server that's online, with its name, region, how many people are on it, and your ping to it. Everything refreshes on its own while the page is open.
When you die, it goes in the graveyard
Until today the graveyard was a guess: it showed whatever the last heartbeat had said about a life, which was usually a healthy survivor standing in a kitchen a few seconds before the end.
Now every life that ends gets a certificate on the My Graveyard page: who they were, where they died, how many days they lasted, and what got them. Died of dehydration. Overwhelmed by a horde. Killed by gunshot.
And because your body doesn't disappear when you die in this game, the graveyard also tracks whether it's still out there. If it is, the entry says Still roaming and you can click Spectate to follow your old shambler around the world. When someone finally puts it down, the entry flips to At rest.
Joining looks like a game now
Instead of a debug overlay, you get a loading screen with a progress bar. You also won't spawn until the area around you has finished loading, so no more dropping into a half-drawn neighbourhood.
Still to come
On the graveyard: counts that add up across all your lives, and a timeline of the days that mattered in each one. The ledger has started. It's not finished.
One life at a time. The account keeps the story.
