01 / Get your bearings

The world is the enemy.
People are the possibility.

The Dead Still Live is an isometric multiplayer survival game with permanent death. Explore generated towns, search their interiors, and share the streets with other survivors and the dead. Every supply run asks the same question: is it worth the risk?

  1. 01

    Read the room.

Look before you enter. Your view depends on where you face, what blocks your sight, and how much light you have. An unseen room is not an empty room.

    Keep an exit in mind.
  2. 02

    Take what you need.

Search fridges and dressers. Find food, bottled water, and useful equipment. Clothes can become bandages; some cans need an opener.

    Supplies buy you time.
  3. 03

    Pick your battles.

Fight, shove, or get out. Firearms can save your life, but their sound reaches beyond the fight. Another survivor can be a partner—or a threat.

    Surviving is enough.

02 / A shot is an invitation

They heard that.

Smashing a window or firing a gun can draw nearby zombies. Noise also pulls the wider zombie population toward activity. Winning the immediate fight may be the start of your next problem.

Try a scenario. This is a conceptual illustration, not a live map or a measurement of range.

What happens on this street?
Quiet doesn’t mean safe.

The dead are already here. Look for a route, watch your surroundings, and avoid unnecessary attention.

An entrance comes at a cost.

Broken glass opens a way through. The smash can alert nearby occupants and adds a pulse of attraction.

The fight has an audience.

Gunfire alerts nearby zombies and creates a wider attraction spike. Expect attention beyond the body in front of you.

03 / Borrowed time

Take care of this life.
It’s the only one they get.

The living / Every hour counts

Same sun. Shared night.

Day and night follow real time in the server’s timezone. Darkness changes what you can see. Flashlights, candles, and glowsticks help you find your way.

Hunger and thirst build over time, even while you’re offline. Eat and drink to manage your needs; food is not a combat heal. Opened food can spoil, so keep an eye on your supplies.

The dead / Every life leaves a mark

You’re gone. Your body isn’t.

Death ends that character. Your body can rise as a zombie, carrying the inventory you left behind. A new survivor is a new life.

Your account’s graveyard keeps past lives, their defining moments, and their endings. Accolades accumulate across lives. When your remains are still roaming and the world is online, you can return to watch them.

Other survivors have a choice. So do you.

Player-versus-player combat and looting the dead are part of the game. There are no safe zones or friendly-fire protection. Cooperation can give you another pair of eyes; trust is yours to decide.

04 / The longer view

A light
in the wilderness.

Survival goes beyond the next supply run. Build a small pocket of humanity outside town, find people to share it with, and hold out against a world that keeps pressing in.

01

A place to hold.

Claim camps outside town. Board up openings. Make a home worth defending, with the risk that activity draws the dead.

02

Turn danger into a tool.

Leave noise or light as bait. Pull zombies toward a decoy, away from your route, or toward someone else’s walls.

03

A world that asks more.

Your needs continue while you’re away. Zombies can breach your defenses. Every camp you hold and every life you lose becomes part of your story.

How do I start?

Sign in with Discord, choose an online world, and start a survivor. Return to that survivor from your dashboard while the life is still active. The game is in development, so expect rough edges.

Is this single-player or multiplayer?

The game is built around shared multiplayer worlds: survivors occupy the same streets and can fight alongside or against one another. You can explore on your own, but being alone does not make the world safe.

What happens when I die?

That character’s life ends permanently. You can begin a new life, but the old one is not revived. Your graveyard records the ending, and your turned body may still be out there.

Will my survivor starve while I’m away?

Yes. Hunger and thirst continue while you’re offline, and either can end your life if neglected. Keep your survivor fed and hydrated, and return to tend to their needs. Closing the game does not pause their life.

Can I build a base or set a zombie trap?

Claim a camp outside town and board up openings to make it your own. Place noise or light decoys to draw zombies away from your route. Defenses buy time, but activity can bring the dead to your door.
